Lodging, meals, and family support for Central New York families with hospitalized children.
When a child is admitted to a Syracuse-area hospital, the last thing a parent should worry about is where to sleep. Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central New York, located at 1100 E Genesee St just minutes from Upstate Medical University and other area hospitals, exists to close that gap. Since earning a 4.7-star rating from the families it has served, the House has become a trusted anchor for parents and siblings navigating some of the most frightening days of their lives.
The House opens its doors every day of the week, from 8:30 AM to 9:00 PM, welcoming families who need a warm, quiet place to regroup. Volunteers, who are at the core of everything here, go out of their way to make each new arrival feel seen and supported. Whether a family stays for a single night or several weeks, the atmosphere is shaped by people who genuinely care.
Family-centered care is not a slogan here. It is the organizing principle behind every program, every shared meal, and every comfort item delivered to a hospital floor. Central New York families facing inpatient or outpatient treatment at Syracuse-area hospitals will find a community ready to stand beside them.
Ronald McDonald House Charities of Central New York provides a full range of services designed to keep families close to their hospitalized children without the financial and logistical burden of navigating a strange city alone.
At the foundation is housing and lodging support, giving families a stable, comfortable place to rest near the hospital. The Meals That Heal program means resident families sit down to home-cooked meals rather than vending-machine dinners. The Hospitality Cart program brings comfort items directly to patients and families inside partner hospitals and clinics, extending the House's care beyond its own walls. Volunteer opportunities allow members of the Central New York community to contribute their time and skills to keep the House running.
For those who want to give back, several giving programs make it easy: Adopt A Room, the Wish List, the House Heroes monthly giving club, and the Red Shoe Society each offer meaningful ways to support families who will walk through these doors next.
